Background on EU Regulations 🔗Firstly we should cover exactly what EU Regulation 2019/1157 is. Regulation 2019/1157 is on “strengthening the security of identity cards of Union citizens and of residence documents issued to Union citizens and their family members exercising their right of free movement”. To put it simply, it lays out updated regulations for a common format of ID Card, harmonising the various ID card systems prevalent throughout the union to require them to meet certain standards into what is, essentially, a single European Identity Card system.
In late June 2022, the last of the 2 temporary terrestrial multiplexes COM7 is to be turned off to clear the UHF spectrum for 5G. For the uninitiated reader, this is a bigger deal than may be initially apparent and urgent government intervention is vitally needed to replace this now missing service. This article is hoping to explain my position on the matter and a brief technical overview of DTT in relation to this.
